TUPE – These regulations are designed to protect the rights of employees in a transfer situation e.g. when there is a change in supplier (often when contracts are tendered) or when a facility is first outsourced. This enables affected employees to enjoy continuity of employment keeping the same terms and conditions. TUPE 2006 entirely replaces the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 1981 (SI 1981/1794) which have often been referred to as the TUPE regulations.
