Bridging the Tender Gap

THE Bill paving the way for the new Forth road bridge has been given royal assent.
The Forth Crossing Act, passed by the Scottish Parliament last month, officially grants ministers the powers to begin construction of the project later this year.
The final
invitation to tender for the principal contract for the bridge was issued before Christmas, marking the end of a year-long competitive dialogue process between Transport Scotland and prospective bidders.
Forthspan and Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors are now preparing their final
tenders before submitting them at the end of January.
The contract is expected to be worth between £900 million and £1.2 billion and is due to be awarded in April this year.
