The Green Tender

Tender writing historically has been perceived as a paper hungry activity, as draft after draft is typed and retyped, circulated and reviewed cumulating in a heaped waste paper bin. Here at Executive Compass environmental management is at the forefront of our actions, our bespoke tender writing software ensures that paper copies are a thing of the past. The whole tender management process, from start to finish, is managed without the need for paper copies; this ensures that we strive to meet our objective of a paperless office.

The environmental impact of paper is rarely recognised as a truly global issue, the idea that paper manufacturing is the 3rd largest user of fossil fuels worldwide will come as a shock to many. Annual worldwide paper consumption is in the order of 50 KG per person, but it is not just the trees!! The production of paper not only affects fossil fuels but approx. 324 L. of water is used to produce 1 KG of paper! Paper manufacturing is the largest industrial user of water per pound of finished product.

The ideas proposed through the paperless office address these issues, and focus attention on the philosophies of recycling and paper reduction. It has been scientifically proven that recycled paper requires 64% less energy than making paper from virgin wood pulp. At Executive Compass we go that extra mile to ensure that our office is green, and compliant with environmental standards. In terms of recycling and waste, recycling one ton of paper saves on average 17 trees.

This is just one area that you may be able to improve your tenders, explain what makes you unique, but one thing you must never do is to recycle the tender itself. It is important to include as much new narrative as possible, to focus the tender on your potential client and not the client you wrote your tender for last month. Recycle your paper by all means, but when it comes to writing tenders, make them fresh and exciting.
