Writing a Tender
Writing a tender with a looming deadline and no resources can appear a little daunting. Time pressure, tricky questions and a business to run can mean that you are submitting sub standard tenders and missing out on valuable projects.The first piece of help with writing a tender I can give you is...do not panic. Unless you have left it very late you will be amazed what can be done in a short time. So, stay calm and follow my ten point plan.
1. Always read through your tender very carefully before completing it. There will be important information about how to present it, what font to use, how to answer etc. Once you have read it, read it again!
2. Never tell lies You will be found out!
3. When writing a tender, ask for clarification if you do not understand something. Remember though that if you ask a question both the question and the answer will be circulated to all those submitting that particular tender.
4. Make sure that that it is submitted in the correct format.
5. Make sure you have all your information at hand before you start. You do not want to waste time looking for important documents once you have started writing.
6. Make sure you allow yourself adequate time. Writing a tender takes time, more often than not, quite a bit of time.
7. Should you submit your tender too late you will be expelled from the evaluation process. So, never submit a tender late.
8. Do not miss out any sections when writing a tender.
9. Always include any policies that are needed. A widespread cause for writing a tender incorrectly is neglecting to include relevant policies. Things like; H&S and sustainability policies are often forgotten about. Do not worry if you do not have any, we can write them for you when we are completing your tender.
10. Writing a tender can sometimes feel like an uphill struggle. If there is more than one person writing make sure at least one of them is acting as project manager, that way there is less chance of something not getting being missed.
